Giant Alien Robots

Some of you may not know this, but I'm a HUGE Transformers fan (I own the original movie and some of the seasons on DVD). I have been anticipating and fearing the upcoming movie, because it would either destroy everything good that I remembered about my childhood or be amazingly awesome. I'm relieved to be able to say that I loved it! I realize that as a Transformers fanatic I'm probably a little biased, but it was a GREAT movie. I wish that there had been a little more focus on the Transformers and developing their characters, but it was an entertaining movie from start to finish. In summary, it was a lot better than I expected and almost just as good as I had hoped for.

I forgot to mention that Optimus Prime's lips did bother me (he just looked so much cooler in "battle mode" with the plate over his mouth), but fortunately the coolness of the rest of the movie made up for that problem.

I am glad you comment on your own blog. You could just edit it....
Anyway, I am glad you loved the movie so much. We will have to buy it or rent it when it comes out so I can finally see it.

NOooooo! He has lips??!? I thought that was just a nasty rumor? I could have sworn I read on Michael Bay's official blog (via Digg) that he didn't have lips soon after the news broke. Lame. I've yet to see it. Hopefully I'll like it as much as you did despite Optimus having lips.

(Why'd you have to throw out my transformers collection when I was a kid Mom?)

Ya, I was actually surprised about the lips thing too, because I had read the same thing about it just being "test footage" or something like that. Fortunately, they at least did the "battle mode" thing and had like 10 or so minutes of the movie where he had the face plate on (it just looked so much cooler).
Basically, the movie wasn't perfect, but it was one of the best movies I've seen in a while and I'm just glad that it wasn't the horribly cheesy and stupid movie that I was afraid it would be.

I also forgot to mention that I wish that they had done a sweet version of the original theme song in the movie. I mean how sweet is it when that chick belts out "Transformers" at the beginning of the old movie?

Yeah, I heard there is some kind of legal problem with using the original theme song. Stinky. Anyways, I just came across this:

It's a re-release of the original animated movie on DVD, this time with WIDESCREEN!

Update: I ordered my 20th anniversary DVD from amazon.com late last night. Unfortunately they don't estimate that it will ship until like the 17th. What the heck???? Oh well, I'll live. I'm excited to see the original in its widescreen glory!

I'm jealous. I might just have to buy the widescreen version and give my current one to my brother for his birthday or something lame like that.

I think it's hard for those guys to get the lips just right. Geez, go easy on them Dave, they're doing their best.
