The Joy of Tax Season

Maybe it's that I'm a bit of a geek or maybe it's the thrill of getting a little money, but I LOVE filing my taxes. I just finished both our federal and state tax forms and I was pleasantly surprised that we'd actually be getting a return.
I HIGHLY recommend using Turbo Tax online. Even though it's not quite as easy as the commercials try to make it sound, it's not that bad and it's so nice being able to just answer questions to have it fill out the right forms for me. If you're interested in trying it, then you can either fill out a 1040EZ for free or you can get a 25% off discount on both the state and federal forms (just click on the "Visitor Entry" link and start the return).

Bryce, it's a good thing I do the taxes around here.

Dave, do you know if I bought TurboTax last year, do I have to buy it again, or just download the update?

I could probably just look up the answer myself, but you actually seem like you know what you're doing.

I've never actually bought the CD (because I just use the online edition at www.turbotax.com), but from looking at their website it looks like you have to re-purchase this years version because I didn't see any upgrade option anywhere.

But if having to always be connected to the internet isn't a problem while you're doing your taxes, then I would recommend trying out the online edition. It's free to use and you just pay when you finally submit the filing.
