Thanksgiving 2009

So, to catch up - - - - for Thanksgiving this year we had a wonderful time having some of Dave's family come to visit with us for a few days - Dave's Mom and Dad and his younger brother, Cody.  Dave and I got fancy with the turkey and decided to brine it just like Emeril did on the Martha Stewart show.  We created an apple cider brine which was tasty.  Our ice chest was the perfect size to fit all the brine and the turkey.  It was a little bit of a process to get it all done, but we think it was worth it.  It sure was juicy!!

Here is a cute picture of Dave carving the bird.  He read some tutorials ahead of time so he knew what he was doing.  He did a great job.

This is what Charlie thought of his turkey dinner.  All he would eat was the rolls.

Here is all of us (except Dave who is behind the camera) enjoying our "feast."

We  had such a great time having Dave's family here.  Charlie and his Grandpa have a very special bond.   He would take Charlie on walks everyday, and just play, play, play.  Since they left, Charlie will sometime pick up random objects, hold them to his ear pretending they are phones, and say "Hi Gampa!"  I can definitely see where Dave learns his great Dad traits from.  Dave and Charlie have such a great relationship too and I am happy that Charlie has such a great Dad.  For those of you who may not know - if Dave is home, Charlie always prefers him over me.  ALWAYS.  But, if Dave, me, and Grandpa were all in the same room he would surely go to Grandpa.  It's a good thing we will see them again in a couple weeks for Christmas!
